Mondays at Leverhulme Park: Excludes bank holidays 19:00 - 20:30 Seniors Monday night training sessions are split into two groups. There is a group who runs on the track with sessions designed to increase speed and endurance, after this has finished the group goes indoors and either takes part in a spinning session or circuit training. The second group takes part in a coached spinning session, followed by either a run of about four miles, or more spinning, circuit training and stretches. Juniors After a warm up we usually split into 3 ability groups each with it’s own coach for a half hour run session followed by a half hour cycling session on the running track. Besides improving fitness we work on improving running technique, bike handling skills and transition skills using fun activities. The minimum age is 7 and children must be able to ride a bike. Everyone needs to bring a helmet, their own bike and a drink. Warm clothing (3 layers on top) and gloves are needed for cycling in winter. We do have a small number of bikes and helmets to lend out. Saturdays at Farnworth Swimming Pool 15:30 - 17:30 Seniors - 16:15 to 17:30. A Novice group for those who need to learn front crawl runs from 15:30 to 16:30 All abilities welcome swimming session, where we have the whole pool to train in. The pool is split into individual lanes which cater for varying abilities. Each week the poolside coaches devise a new session to improve stroke technique or speed and offer individual advice on stroke technique. Juniors - starts at 15:30 We have 3 ability groups, two groups finish at 16:30 pm and the improvers group finishes at 16:15. The session is in lanes in the large pool and so it is not suitable for non-swimmers. Our coaches can improve swim technique and fitness and swimmers can progress through the 3 groups. New starters need to come for a short trial first to ensure they are safe to swim lengths and to determine which group they should go into. Minimum age is 7. Swimmers need goggles, a drink and after a few sessions they will need to get their own pair of fins.
